Summertime in the city

In college, I was once chosen to dance a student choreographed piece to the Janice Joplin song Summertime.  The piece was basically all girls with great legs and amazingly arched feet. I was so self conscious...standing on that stage as the opening picture in costumes that were technically nighties...I want to tell my 18 year-old self, "Yo! You rock! Don't be ashamed by your body. Work it sister!". Much like I'd enjoy telling my 14 year-old self to rock a bikini rather than the shorts and t-shirts I wore to the pool. Oh bananas.

Well, it's Summer time here in NYC and it's time for bikinis and baking!

Come on Irene

I feel it all, I feel it all
I feel it all, I feel it all
The wings are wide the wings are wide
Wild card inside wild card inside.

NYC was waiting for Irene to show up...that sappy lady.
My family was so concerned.
I baked some brownies to barter for provisions.
I filled my sink with water.
I filled up the Brita.
I ran around the empty streets in the rain.
 With five dudes.
I was hesitant to share. Then I realized it's part of the Summer of Tammi.
No worries I thought; I may not be here tomorrow.

We ended up running through the empty streets during the storm. It was so wonderful. The streets that are typically so packed on the weekends that I seek refuge elsewhere, were empty and peaceful...that is, until we began running. I think I giggled the entire time. We were immediately soaked and smiling the whole time.

It also got me on a running kick.
I hate running.
Until now.

Reading Chi Running and enjoying every moment of my early morning runs along the East River.

Feelin' Blue

New York, don't hate me.
Koh Samui + Me = a great marriage.

While in the beautiful Chaweng Noi Beach., I was in heaven. I walked along the beach with nobody but me and my camera, ate delicious food looking over the city, ran in the rain (but NYC, you and I did that during Irene too!). I was so content and happy there.

Sitting at the front of the boat while coming back from Angthong, I'm not gonna lie, I got a bit teary. Took me back to my days of being on my dad's outboard boat. I used to LOVE being on a boat. I was such a motion baby, that I would fall asleep even with the extraordinarily loud engine. I loved it. Couldn't get enough of being on the water. Still can't. Ohh beaches. You melt me.
