Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cupcakes

I put these in my favorite innovative egg carton carriers (can't someone design and patent these for me?) and took 'em down to the Immi. I love when people are unexpectedly surprised when they can eat what I bake! Huzzah!

Movie Math

My lovely friend Megan was in town this past weekend.

One very happy Tamsham

I had heard about the carousel from my amazing co-worker Beth, whom I adore, and I'm so glad we went to see it. It is in Dumbo, right on the water. It is this beautiful restored (it took 27 years!) carousel that immediately transported me back to my youth of watching the horses go around and around, waiting until I saw the perfect horse that I would sit on during the ride. It took me back to spending time with my nephew; one of his favorite things to do was ride the carousel. I was so captivated by the nostalgia, the setting, the beauty...the amazingness of this reality that is my life. I truly felt like I was in a movie (my own Amelie) and my happy tears just started falling...

After my tears had dried, we walked over to the Tobacco Warehouse where there were all sorts of activities for kiddos. My favorite part was the chalk walls...and wouldn't you know it, I had chalk in my purse from my Happy Tuesday adventures! I heard a couple requesting chalk from one of the volunteers, who replied that they had no more. I went to give some of my chalk to the couple, and it turned out to be Jadie Wasilco, one of my former students from Roseville School of Dance! I'm telling ya, I fall more and more in love with my boyfriend the more time we spend together. New York City, I heart you major.

love notes, totes

Music to my ears

I've seen three amazing female musicians perform this summer including:

Chan Marshall (Cat Power
I've had the pleasure of seeing her perform several times and this year she was spectacular. She seems to have overcome her horrible stage fright and played for nearly two hours.

Satomi Matsuzaki (of Deerhoof)

Candice and I had a blast at this show which was at The Music Hall of Williamsburg.

...but the most compelling, brought me to tears, inspired me and broke my heart all at once was Brandi Carlile. I really can't remember when I saw a performer that was able to bring an entire theatre to their feet during a seated show and also a time in NYC where such a large group of people were totally silent, holding their breath and waiting for her to exhale her melodic tunes. I absolutely loved the show and thanks to Deborah, we had amazing seats. Brandi was enthusiastic, appreciative, kind, funny...hannah banana.

I am always in awe of people doing what they love. I feel so blessed to have a job I love and I love seeing performers who love what they do. It makes me a sap monster. It makes me want to be a better person. It inspires and delights me. She was stunning.
